Prof. Dr. Malte Weiß

Professor for software engineering and fundamentals of Computer Science at Hochschule Ruhr West, University of Applied Sciences and a passionate software developer

I graduated from RWTH Aachen University in 2007 with a Diploma degree in Computer Science (equiv. to MSc) with a focus on Computer Graphics. From 2006 to 2007, I interned with the Graphics Group of the Institute of Creative Technologies under supervision of Paul Debevec.

In 2007, I started my PhD in the field of Human-Computer Interaction at Media Computing Group at RWTH Aachen University under supervision of Jan Borchers. I interned with Microsoft Research Cambridge in summer of 2011 under supervision of Otmar Hilliges. I received a Doctoral Degree (equiv. to PhD) in Computer Science from RWTH Aachen University in August 2012 for my research on improving haptics on interactive tabletops.

From 2013 to 2017 I was working as senior software engineer and project manager for Capgemini Deutschland GmbH in Cologne/Bonn.

I invented the Agile Autoguider, an iOS application that improves telescope tracking for long exposure photos.

I am cofounder and managing director of weiyu digital GmbH, a software and UX design company.

I have a Youtube channel about coding (in German).
